Bryan Fountain has been named the December teacher of the month by the Calico Rock High School Junior Beta Club. Fountain teachers ag mechanics and advanced mechanics, as well as ag metals and advanced metals. He also teaches animal science (regular and advanced), survey of ag and eighth grade ag sciences. He sponsors a variety of clubs and organizations on campus.

Fountain is usually the first face bus riders see when they walk into the building every morning, as he is taking temperatures of the Calico Rock students and faculty.

He works through his summers to make sure students not only understand how to show an animal, but how to care for them.

Fountain has been employed with the Calico Rock School District for 11 years and in his tenure, he has promoted the FFA program to be an integral part of the curriculum.

Each year, his students work and organize the local rodeo. In the fall, they cook a harvest supper for families, and in the spring, they normally cook Boston butts all night long for the community.

Anita Nordrum, Calico Rock High School principal, says, “This year, we got that treat a bit earlier because of COVID, and it was as delicious as ever.”

“Mr. Fountain makes learning fun for me. I didn’t have any idea how to show an animal before I took his class, and he was able to show me what to do to win money and advance my place,” remarks one student.
