MH girls’ wrestling team wins inaugural dual state title

The Mountain Home High School girls’ wrestling team’s successful season continues, as they can add a state title to their resume. The Lady Bombers captured the inaugural Arkansas Dual State Championship Saturday at the Lions’ Den in Searcy.

Mountain Home entered as the top-seeded team based on its undefeated record. The Lady Bombers received an unexpected first round bye after Har-Ber forfeited due to COVID-19 issues.

Mountain Home advanced to the semifinals and defeated Bentonville 48-12. The Lady Bombers had wins from Amelia Adams, Emma Martin, Gracie Wisniowski, Laurel Chafin, Victoria Bevel, Maranda Jones, Amelia Frounfelter and Cayden Jones.

Mountain Home went on to the championship round and picked up a 36-24 win over Searcy. Individual wins came from Emalyn Stephens, Adams, Chafin, Bevel, Maranda Jones and Frounfelter.

The Lady Bombers will return to the mat Tuesday at West Plains.
