Fundraising underway for Polar Plunge supporting Special Olympics

Fundraising efforts and team organizations are underway for the annual Mountain Home Polar Plunge set for Feb. 27 at the Henderson Park Recreation area. Registration will begin at 10 a.m., with the plunge getting underway at 11.

Every year, thousands of people jump into freezing cold water to support Special Olympics Arkansas.

Those participating in the plunge help bring opportunity and inclusion to over 19,500 Special Olympics athletes and young athletes across the state. Arkansas has up to 24 plunges that make up the Plunge season.

The social media site for the local event indicates fundraising efforts are well underway toward the goal of $2,500.

All health and safety pandemic protocols will be followed.

Donations may be made online. Applications are also available online on the event’s resource page.

“Chickened out” shirts are available for a $25 contribution for those who opt not to take the plunge but want to support Special Olympics.
