When one brother told officers he had overdosed on methamphetamine supplied by a younger brother, the younger sibling was taken to jail.

The older brother first went to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center Sunday on drug-related charges.

The incident leading to the arrests began Jan. 31 when A Baxter County sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a drug overdose at a residence on Tafel Lane in Midway.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the person who had allegedly overdosed was 29-year-old Matthew Kyle Ford.

Matthew Ford told the deputy he had taken a “hot shot” containing approximately 30 units of methamphetamine by syringe, and that he had gotten the drug from his 23-year-old brother, Sean David Ford.

When the deputy arrived, he met Sean Ford outside the residence he shares with his brother. Sean Ford said everything was fine. The deputy said that did not appear to be the case, since Matthew Ford was on the phone with 911 from inside the house reporting he had overdosed.

The deputy said when he entered the residence, he could “smell the strong odor of marijuana.”

He also said he observed paraphernalia used to ingest methamphetamine and marijuana in the house.

Both Ford brothers face felony and misdemeanor drug-related charges and are free on bond.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Sean Ford denied allegations he had supplied methamphetamine to his older brother.
