District tournament play continues for MHHS basketball teams

There is high school basketball scheduled for Monday as both Mountain Home teams will be on the road with a state tournament bid on the line.

The Bomber boys will look to advance to the semifinals of the 5A-West District Tournament as they travel to Van Buren. Mountain Home is currently 8-12 after winning their tournament opener over Greenbrier on Friday. The Pointers improved to 13-8 on Tuesday when a buzzer beater from half court gave them a one-point win at Alma. The Bombers’ last meeting with Van Buren ended up being a 59-45 loss on Feb. 12.
Tip-off at Claire Bates Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Mountain Home’s girls will also be on the road for their second round game in the 5A-West Tournament as they make the trip to Russellville. The Lady Bombers started the tournament Friday with a seven-point win over Van Buren. Russellville improved to 16-9 three nights ago with a 15-point victory over Jacksonville. Mountain Home’s last meeting with the Lady Cyclones was Tuesday when the Lady Bombers fell 38-33 in overtime.
Tip-off at Cyclone Arena is set for 6 p.m. Monday’s game can be heard on KTLO-AM and streaming live at ktlo.com.

District play continues for the larger schools in Missouri, and West Plains’ girls will be in front of the home crowd for their first game in the Class 5, District 9 Tournament. The Lady Zizzers will host Helias Catholic at 5:30 in the semifinals.

The Forsyth boys will be on the road for their opener in the Class 4, District 11 Tournament. The Panthers travel to Willow Springs for a 6 p.m. tip-off.

Branson’s boys will head up Highway 65 for their first game in the Class 6, District 11 Tournament. The Pirates will make the trip to Ozark for their semifinal game at 6.
