The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has issued another local precautionary boil order, bringing the total number of systems in the area to five.According to the ADH website, the East Newton County Water Association is the latest addition to the list. Those customers impacted are in an area south of Arkansas Highway 74 in the Piercetown area. The order is the result of a water line break.

On Tuesday, the ADH issued a precautionary boil water order for the Deer Water Association in Newton County. The order is the result of a water line break due to construction. The impacted area is for those customers along Arkansas Highway 327 from Alum Cove to the end of the system.

On Monday, the ADH website listed a new boil order for a portion of the Pyatt Waterworks system in Marion County. The impacted area is for customers along U.S. Highway 62 to east of L.J.’s Liquor.

Boil orders remain in place for the entire Sylamore Valley Water Association in Stone County and a section of the Calico Rock Waterworks system in Izard County from Red Hill Lane to Main Street.

ADH says under the boil notices, impacted customers are advised the water may be unsafe for human consumption. Water used for drinking or food preparation should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use.

All ice cubes should be discarded. Only boiled water should be used for making ice.

The notices will be lifted by ADH when two sets of bacteriological samples indicate the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
