Wednesday basketball schedule includes regional tournament openers

High school basketball dominates the local Wednesday schedule, as regional tournaments begin throughout Arkansas.

The Class 2A West Regional Tournament gets underway at Magazine. In girls’ action, Yellville-Summit and Acorn tip off at 10 a.m., and Cotter meets the host Lady Rattlers at 4. On the boys’ side, Cotter faces Mansfield at 1, aand Flippin takes on Lavaca at 7.

Lead Hill will be the site of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament. Ozark Mountain’s boys plays the Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy at 1, and the host Lady Tigers will be paired with St. Paul at 4.

Izard County will host the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at the Cougar Den in Brockwell. On the girls’ bracket, Mammoth Spring and Greers Ferry West Side get started at 10 a.m., and Rural Special meets Armorel at 4. The Viola boys face Maynard at 7.

Both of Melbourne’s teams will be in action, as they start hosting the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament. The Lady Bearkatz take on Conway Christian at 4, and the Melbourne boys play Maumelle Charter at 7.

Mountain View’s girls will play the opening game of the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament at Manila. The Lady Yellowjackets will be matched up with Osceola at 10.

Both of Bergman’s teams will play the first games of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament on their home floor. The Lady Panthers meet Charleston at 10, and the Bergman boys meet Booneville at 1.

In Missouri, Dora’s girls will be on the road for their sectional game in the Class 2 State Tournament. The Lady Falcons will play at Richland 6.

District play continues for Missouri’s larger schools, and the boys’ semifinals will be held in the Class 4, District 11 Tournament. Top-seeded Hollister hosts Mountain View-Liberty, and Ava entertains Willow Springs.
