Mountain Home Rotarian Stewart Brunner addressed his home club on Feb. 25, presenting a video program from the president-elect of Rotary International, Shekhar Mehta. A member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta-Mahanagar in India, Mehta will assume the Rotary International leadership role on July 1.

As president, Mehta will provide direction for the 1.25 million Rotarians in 500 districts throughout the world. His international theme for 2021-2022 is “Serve to Change Lives,” an ideal reflected in the Rotarian motto of “Service Above Self.”

Mehta encourages all members to find places and avenues of serving the needs of others locally and globally. The response to the video message was overwhelmingly positive from the Mountain Home membership.

Brunner has served his club as president and the district in numerous positions. He is serving as an assistant governor to 2020-2021 District 6110 Gov. Jay Craig from the Rotary Club of Bristow, Oklahoma, and will continue July 1 under Gov.-elect Kevin Merrill from the Rotary Club of Harrison. 6110 is the largest geographic district in the United States, with 80 clubs from a four-state area, of which Mountain Home is the eastern-most club.

During his year, each district governor will visit all the clubs, as well as hosting several large district-wide events. The assistant governors serve at his request and will be present at all district meetings and will regularly visit the many clubs under their leadership throughout the Rotary year.
