Local state representatives among 24 women serving in House

The Arkansas House of Representatives is recognizing its 24 female members during Women’s History Month 2021.According to the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), approximately 2,145 women were serving in the 50 state legislatures in 2020.

Women make up 29% of all state legislators nationwide.

This represents a significant increase from the 2018 session’s ratio of 25.3 % and the most women elected at one time.

The Arkansas House of Representatives has 24 women serving, including Rep. Nelda Speaks of Mountain Home and Rep. Michelle Gray (district includes portions of Izard and Stone counties) of Bethesa, serving in the 93rd General Assembly, and the Arkansas Senate has seven, including Sen. Missy Irvin (district includes portions of Baxter, Fulton, Marion, Searcy and Stone counties) of Mountain View and Sen. Breanne Davis (district includes Newton County and a portion of Boone) of Russellville
