As Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) prepares for its Wednesday morning meeting at 9 with a local medical marijuana dispensary on the agenda, the state is reporting cannabis sales have passed a quarter of a billion dollars.

The ABC agenda includes a hearing via a video conference for Fiddler’s Green Dispensary, located at 16150 Arkansas Highway 9 in Mountain View.

According to the agenda, the hearing is for the appeal of a violation order in Sept. 2020. At that time, the dispensary was cited for

– failure to properly label medical cannabis;
– failure by operator to cooperate with ABC Enforcement;
– failure to keep harvested cannabis in a secured safe;
– failure to process medical marijuana without written policies and procedures for manufacturing;
– advertising and marketing medical cannabis with none of the required disclosure statements;
– allowing unauthorized personnel access to the facility;
– failure to properly dispose of litter and waste;
– failure to label medical cannabis to patients in compliance with health department; and
– improper signage/advertising.

The hearing will be held via Go-To and may be accessed at myarkansaspbs.org/arcan.

Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission spokesman Scott Hardin says since the first dispensary opened in mid-2019, Arkansans have spent $258 million to obtain 39,039 pounds of medical marijuana.

There are 32 dispensaries in operation throughout Arkansas, with six working toward opening for business (38 dispensaries have been licensed). There are now 10 dispensaries that have reached at least 2,000 pounds in sales.

The Arkansas Department of Health reports 69,287 active patient cards. These patients are spending an average of $716,900 daily on medical marijuana purchases in Arkansas.

In a recent Arkansas Business article, the publication notes Baxter County holds the top spot for percentage of residents holding medical marijuana cards at 4.4 or about 1,800.

Stone County is number two with 4.26% of its population holding cards or about 533 cards.

Baxter and Stone are the only counties among the state’s 75 with percentages of cardholders over 4% of their populations.

Of the top 12 counties ranked by Arkansas Business, seven are located in North Central Arkansas. The others in the Top 10 are Izard, Searcy, Sharp, Van Buren and Cleburne counties.

Arkansas Business says the average price per ounce for medical marijuana is $406.
