The City of Flippin honored the late Forrest L. Wood and his widow, Nina Mae, Thursday with the renaming of several city streets to Forrest Wood Dr. and presenting Nina Mae with the key to the city while proclaiming Nina Mae Wood Day as part of the city’s Centennial Celebration.

Officials with the City of Flippin unveil the new sign designating Main Street as part of Forrest Wood Drive in Flippin.

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge addressed the crowd to honor the Woods, citing their “pull themselves up by the bootstraps” attitude that made the couple successful while founding Ranger Boats and building it into one of the foremost watercraft companies in the country. The Woods also operated a successful farm near Flippin, and Forrest Wood was involved in the newly formed Vexus Boats based in Flippin.

The Nina Mae Wood Day proclamation and event was a complete surprise for the event, according to Marberry, who discussed her impact on the city.
