Friday results include MH softball team falling to Greene County Tech

The Mountain Home High School softball team had a rough outing at home on Friday falling to Greene County Tech 6-4. Georgia Burnham led the Lady Bombers by going two-for-three with a solo home run, a double and a walk, and Lauren Loving was two-for-four with an RBI. Mountain Home drops to 10-4 on the season.
Mountain Home fared better in the junior varsity game. The JV Lady Bombers were down to their last out, when Emma Crabb hit a walk-off two-run triple for a 4-3 win over Tech. Emma Crabb was one-for-two with two RBIs, Josie Kelly went two-for-two, and Tori Robb and Olivia Crabb each went one-for-two.
Mountain Home will host a varsity doubleheader against Van Buren on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Mammoth Spring had a dominating outing shutting out Koshkonong 15-0. The Lady Bears improve to 8-3 on the year.

Marshall wrapped up the week with a tough road trip. The Lady Bobcats fell to Bigelow by a final of 10-0.

In baseball, Cotter had a short but tough day on the road after falling to Flippin 9-1. Jackson Jones picked up the win on the mound with eight strikeouts. Evan Riggs hit his second home run of the season for the Bobcats.

Yellville-Summit was able to pick up an easy win on the road. The Panthers routed Alpena by a score of 20-2.

Viola had a good day in front of the home crowd with another conference victory. The Longhorns pounded Greers Ferry West Side 16-3.

Salem was able to invoke the mercy rule in the fifth winning by destroying White County Central 14-1. Matt Guffey was credited with the win by pitching a complete game, striking out nine batters and giving up three hits and no earned runs. Guffey was also three-for-three with two doubles and three RBIs, Gavin Guiltner went two-for-three and drove in three runs, Trevor Leisenring was two-for-three with three stolen bases, Dakota Jackson went two-for-three with a double, and Hank Guiltner and Kyler Willett each went two-for-four with two RBIs. The Greyhounds improve to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Izard County needed an extra inning, but Landon McBride’s walk-off single brought Noah Everett across the plate for a 5-4 win over Pocahontas in the Pioneer Classic at Batesville. Chase Orf got the win by pitching three relief innings, recording three strikeouts and giving up one run. McBride was the starting pitcher with 3 1/3 innings, four strikeouts and one earned run. The Cougars remain unbeaten in five games on the season.

Mountain View had a tough day on its home field. The Yellowjackets fell to Pangburn 21-0.
