Monday results include Flippin softball pitching throwing no-hitter

Maddie Lindsey was able to throw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts on Monday to help Flippin’s softball team get a 10-0 win over Yellville-Summit. Ella Alexander provided a three-run, inside-the-park home run for the Lady Bobcats, Hope Rackley and Cheyanne Merkel each provided two hits and drove in two runs, and Kaylee Warren added two doubles.

Viola won a close game on the home turf. The Lady Longhorns edged out Izard County 10-9.

Calico Rock ended up losing a doubleheader to Shirley. The Lady Pirates fell to the Lady Blue Devils 5-3 in the first game, and Shirley also took the second game 10-4.

Melbourne suffered a conference loss on the road. The Lady Bearkatz fell to Tuckerman by a score of 10-8.

Jasper had a rough day in front of the home crowd. In a battle between Lady Pirates, Jasper lost to Dover 18-0.

The Cotter High School baseball team started the week Monday with a tough road trip. The Warriors fell at Melbourne by a final of 16-1.

Bakersfield also had rough outing on the road. The Lions suffered an 11-1 loss at Gainesville.

Viola had a successful day on its home turf. The Longhorns doubled up Izard County 6-3.

Salem was able to beat another group of Greyhounds from Sloan-Hendrix with a 6-2 decision. Hank Guiltner picked up the win by pitching a complete game, striking out four batters and giving up five hits and one earned run. Gavin Guiltner led the Salem offense with two singles and three RBIs, Matt Guffey hit a double and a triple and drove in two runs, and Trevor Leisenring and Dakota Jackson each added a pair of singles. Salem improves to 7-5 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.

Bergman was able to pick up a conference victory on the road. The Panthers defeated Greenland by a score of 4-2.
