Wood to be inducted in AOA Hall of Fame

The Arkansas Officials Association (AOA) has announced its new Hall of Fame members, and a local resident is being honored. Lou Wood of Flippin will be inducted as part of the Class of 2021 this summer.

Wood says he felt honored to receive the news that he is going to be enshrined by the organization he has long been affiliated with.

This is the second time Wood will be recognized by an organization under the umbrella of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA). In 2010, he was inducted into the Arkansas High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Wood says it was a thrill, as a coach and an official, to be able to put his time in and help student athletes throughout the state.

Wood’s wife is also a two-time Hall of Fame inductee under the AAA. Current Mountain Home Kindergarten Principal Janet Wood was enshrined by the Arkansas High School Coaches Association in 2009 and the Arkansas High School Athletic Administrators Association last year. Lou Wood says its made their relationship unique when compared to other couples.

Lou Wood will be inducted by the AOA during the Hall of Fame banquet July 9 at 6 p.m. in the Hot Springs Convention Center. Tickets will go on sale beginning May 1.
