Izard County to host North Arkansas All-Star Senior Showcase

After the coronavirus pandemic force the cancellation of last year’s event, one of the area’s biggest basketball events returns this weekend. The North Arkansas All-Star Senior Showcase will be held Saturday at the Cougar Den on the campus of Izard County High School in Brockwell.

Action tips off with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. The finals of the slam dunk, three-point shooting and obstacle course contests will follow, and the boys’ contest will wrap up the evening.

Local athletes competing in the girls’ game include Macey Perryman, Lindsey Browning and Sami McCandlis of Viola; Amber Yates of Salem; Calico Rock’s Kachina McDole and Keely Pool; Alli Marlin and Ashlyn Billingsley of Izard County; Shelby VanGinhoven of Mammoth Spring; Melbourne’s Kiley Webb, Kylee Humphries and Nancy Wann; Chaelann Vickers and Aubrey Isbell of Mountain View; and Abby Linville of Rural Special. The coaches will be Josh Bateman of Salem and Scott Small of Mammoth Spring.

The area will also be represented on the boys’ side by Zach Bolin of Ozark Mountain; Isaac McClain of Calico Rock; Izard County’s Caleb Faulkner, Coby Everett, Chase Orf, Noah Everett and Zach Simmons; Riley Gray and Remi Lawrence of Melbourne; Pierce Marshall of Lead Hill; and Valley Springs’ Brock Lippe and Trell Trammell. In addition, Scott Bowlin of Melbourne will serve as one of the coaches.

Admission to the North Arkansas All-Star Senior Showcase is $5 per person.
