Monday softball results include MH splitting doubleheader with Greenbrier

The Mountain Home High School softball team had mixed results Monday as they played a varsity doubleheader at Greenbrier.
The Lady Bombers were edged out by the Lady Panthers 2-1 in the first game. Marcie Cudworth led the Mountain Home offense by going two-for-three, Tori Robb was one-for-three with an RBI, and Lauren Loving, Emily Payne and Katelyn Hill each went one-for-three.
Mountain Home fared better in the nightcap as they beat Greenbrier 6-4. Georgia Burnham led the was by going two-for-four with a two-run home run. Reagan Hasselwander was two-for-two with two walks, Cudworth and Hill each went two-for-four, Payne was one-for-two with a sacrifice fly and three RBIs, Olivia Crabb went one-for-three with a sacrifice bunt and an RBI, and Robb and Mattie Belk were each one-for-three. Hasselwander picked up the win in the circle.
The Lady Bombers are 15-10 on the season and finished 5A-West action at 9-5.

Flippin was able to beat another set of Lady Bobcats with a 10-0 victory over Marshall. Maddie Lindsey was the winning pitcher with five shutout innings and one hit. Allie Downs, Cheyenne Merkle and Hope Rackley led Flippin’s offense with two hits and two RBIs each. Flippin improves to 16-6 on the year.

Viola picked up another conference win at home. The Lady Longhorns defeated Concord by a final of 8-1.

Calico Rock lead slipped away in the end as they were edged out by Izard County 6-5. The Lady Cougars’ winning rally involved Lily Sanders walking to open the inning, followed by a single by Ava Lewis, and a triple by Erica Smith closed the gap to 5-4. Ashlynn Billingsley reached base, and Smith tied the game on a wild pitch. One out later, Billingsley scored the winning run on another wild pitch. At 13-6 overall and 10-4 in conference play, Izard County clinched the No. 2 seed in the 1A-2 District Tournament and a regional tournament berth. The Lady Cougars’ district opener will be Friday at West Side High School in Greers Ferry.
