MHHS students represent Arkansas in national financial literacy competition

Four Mountain Home High School students are representing Arkansas in a national financial literacy competition, with a right to advance to finals on the line.

Kaylee Drake, Tatum Smith, Taylor Schumaker and Juana Hernandez are competing in the National Finance Challenge sponsored by the University of Nebraska. The top 24 teams advance to the finals.

The team is comprised of students from Johnny Caststeel’s economics class at MHHS. Caststeel describes the competition.

The students have been preparing for competition since January, according to Caststeel.

The state and national rounds are all being conducted via computer due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Caststeel says competition is ongoing this week to determine who will advance in the competition.
