Cooper Park will be a busy place through the weekend as one of the area’s biggest sporting events returns. Ten American Legion baseball teams will gather Thursday for the opening day of the 35th-annual Mickey Huskey Twin Lakes Classic.
Mountain Home Lockeroom head coach Lester White says he is looking forward to having the tournament with fewer restrictions than a year ago.
White adds there are some teams in the tournament he is familiar with, but there will also be some new faces.
The Lockeroom begins pool play by taking on Eureka, Missouri. The first pitch at Lester White Field is scheduled for 8 p.m.
In the earlier games, North Central Arkansas and Branson get underway at 11 a.m., Batesville meets Russellville at 1:15, Paragould faces Bartlesville, Oklahoma, at 3:30, and the Tropics from Scott City, Missouri, takes on Pontotoc, Mississippi, at 5:45.
