Former Harrison band director faces 50 counts of sexual assault

A former Harrison High School band director is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a student on numerous occasions. Fifty-six-year-old Randell Mealer was booked Thursday into the Boone County Jail and Detention Center on 50 counts of first-degree sexual assault.

According to the criminal information document from 14th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney David Ethredge, Mealer had allegedly engaged in sexual activity with one of his former students on at least 50 occasions between June 2017 and May 2018, as he was employed in the Harrison School District. According to KYTV/KSPR, he spent this past school year as an assistant principal in Colorado Springs.

Mealer was released from jail nearly three hours after being booked on a bond of $75,000.
