Heather D. O’Neill

A Gassville woman arrested in March and September last year and charged with possessing drugs and firearms both times appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

Forty-four-year-old Heather O’Neill pled guilty to her charges and was sentenced to six years probation.

She was first stopped Mar. 4, 2020 by an Arkansas State Police Trooper near the Baxter County Regional Airport. A search of the vehicle O’Neill was driving turned up methamphetamine, paraphernalia used to ingest the drug and a handgun.

O’Neill told the trooper her father had given her the gun.

She was arrested again on Sept. 1 last year after a Mountain Home police officer responded to a noise complaint at an apartment complex.

When he arrived on scene, the officer reported seeing a female sitting inside a white pick up truck.

After work on the noise complaint was wrapped up, the officer saw the same female lying down in the truck apparently in an effort to hide.

When the officer made contact with the female, identified as O’Neill, he discovered she was a convicted felon and that the license plate on her truck was fictitious.

The officer saw a plastic bag sticking partially out of O’Neill’s bra. She first tried to cover the bag up, but then handed it to the officer. It contained mushrooms.

A magnetic box was also found containing three plastic bags holding a crystalline substance field-testing positive for methamphetamine.

A quantity of marijuana was also located in a glass jar inside a red backpack.

The officer also discovered a firearm with two matching ammunition magazines.

Charges in both cases included being a felon in possession of a firearm, and numerous drug-related offenses.
