A 48-year-old man accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with a nine-year-old boy appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Jason Adam Memegos of Briarcliff entered a plea of guilty to a charge of 2nd degree sexual assault and was sentenced to six years in prison.

Memegos has been locked up in the Baxter County jail for 382 days.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint in mid-July last year alleging that Memegos had performed a sex act on the boy at a home in the Briarcliff area.

In a press release issued by the Sheriff’s Office, Memegos is identified as being related to the child by marriage.

During a forensic interview at Grandma’s House Children’s Advocacy Center, the victim is reported to have provided details of the encounter.

When investigators interviewed Memegos, he was alleged to have admitted having sexual contact with the child.
