The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society’s (B.A.S.S.) Bassmaster Magazine recently ranked the “100 Best Bass Lakes of 2021,” and both of the Twin Lakes were recognized. Bull Shoals Lake was ranked ninth in the central United States, and Norfork Lake is No. 25.

According to Bassmaster editors, there’s no quick way to Bull Shoals Lake, “but smart anglers know it’s worth the trip.” Fifteen of 25 teams that entered the season finale in the Bull Shoals division of the Joe Bass Team Trail’s season finale in February caught the five-fish limit, including the winners with over 19 pounds. It took nearly 20 1/2 pounds to win another Joe Bass event a month earlier.

On Norfork Lake, Bassmaster says a total of nearly 15 1/4 pounds to win a benefit tournament in April was not impressive, but the attention grabber was that 37 of the top 40 teams met the five-fish limit. Officials with the Lake Norfork Bass Club reported at a club event in March, the winners caught a total of over 17 1/2 pounds.

Another area lake made the top 25 in the central region. Table Rock Lake ended up getting ranked 10th.

According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Bassmaster Magazine annually ranks the top 10 overall bass lakes and the top 25 bass lakes per region of the United States based on bass fishing tournament results and input from fisheries biologists. Click here for Bassmaster’s list.
