A 25-year-old Stone County woman faces felony charges after she allegedly pilfered more than $2,700 while working as a cashier at the Walmart in Mountain View.

Georgia Elosha-Marine Brown is charged with breaking or entering and theft of property. She was booked Tuesday afternoon and released later that night on bond.

According to the probable-cause affidavit from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were alerted by Walmart management of an apparent theft at the register Brown had been working.

On Aug. 28, security video allegedly shows Brown requesting a “no-sale” drawer open and removing the all the $100, $50, $20, $10 and $5 bills. The affidavit states Brown placed the bills on the lottery counter under the monitor, then used her left hand to remove the cash and place it in her left vest pocket. She then allegedly closed the drawer, leaving just the $1 bills and coins in the drawer, then starts a new customer transaction.

When management closed out the drawer at the end of the shift, they found it $2,739.88 short.

Brown was later fired and restitution in the missing amount was requested.

The affidavit states Brown told store employees she was “moving to Tulsa.” She was later seen back in the store purchasing items since the theft. Brown has now been banned from all Walmart locations.
