MH girls’ golf team repeats as conference champs, boys just miss state berth

The Mountain Home High School golf teams competed in the 5A-West Conference Tournament on Wednesday, and the Lady Bombers were able to successfully defend last year’s title. Mountain Home’s girls had a total of 258 to pull off the upset and finish 16 strokes ahead of co-runners-up Russellville and Greenwood.

Reagan Webb was the individual medalist as she shot a 75 to lead the Lady Bombers. Also for Mountain Home, Ella Brashears had an 87, Faith Hilvert finished with a 96, and Mary Beth Rogero ended up with a 105.

The Bomber boys just missed advancing to the state tournament by one stroke. Mountain Home ended up tied for fourth with Russellville as both teams ended up at 333, one back of Greenwood. Van Buren took the conference championship at 318, and Vilonia was second at 328.

The medalist on the boys’ side was Blaine Chambers of Alma with a 68. The Bombers were led by Gaige Chaney with a 76, Rip Finley shot an 81, Duncan Conly had an 87, Chace Berwald finished with an 89, and Will Beckham ended up with a 91.
