Salem girls claim runner-up spot at Class 2A State Golf Tournament, Melbourne third

The Salem High School girls’ golf team finished as state runners up at the Class 2A State Golf Tournament Monday at the Course on Turkey Mountain at Horseshoe bend. Conway Christian won the team title with a 295, Salem was second with a 302 and Melbourne finished third with a 306.

For Salem, Jaycie Strong led the way with a 95 to finish sixth overall, Morgan Johnson shot a 102, Chloe Taylor had a 105 and Katie Fish finished with a 108.

Melbourne was led by Sophie Love with a 94 to finish fifth overall, Annie Blevins had a 97 and Madison Woodall had a 115.

Flippin’s Madelyn Lindsey shot a 103.
