An Oklahoma physician is accused of killing a woman traveling with him in southeast Arkansas. Thirty-four-year-old Dr. Tyler Tait of Tahlequah is being held in the Chicot County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

The Arkansas State Police say special agents from the Criminal Investigation Division were requested to investigate the death of 37-year-old Mona Kinsey of Tahlequah by Chicot County deputies on Monday. Deputies responded around 12:15 Monday afternoon to a report of a woman in need of medical assistance. Kinsey was located lying outside of a vehicle parked alongside U.S. Highway 65 nearly two miles north of Lake Village, and Tait was also found near the vehicle. Kinsey was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead two hours later.

Agents examined the vehicle Tait and Kinsey were traveling in from Mississippi and reportedly found evidence of a physical altercation. Taft was arrested Monday evening after agents interviewed him and consulted with the 10th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Kinsey’s body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock to determine the cause and manner of death.
