A local golf course recently received recognition from a national publication as being a “dream course” in the deep south. Links Magazine selected Big Creek Golf and Country Club as one of a dozen in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Tony Dear was the author of the article, and his search consisted of courses offering great golfing with affordability. He says aerial photographs on the home page of its website says everything about Big Creek. Dear adds it’s a mostly wide-open, expansive course covering 200 acres with a handful of significant water hazards.

Dear also gives a brief history of Big Creek, including the design courtesy of Tom Clark from Ault, Clark and Associates. He mentions it opened in 2000 and measures 7,300 yards from the back tees.

Big Creek was one of two golf courses in Arkansas on the list. Another dream course was Big Sugar Golf Club in Pea Ridge.
