MHHS picks up 1 team, 1 individual title at state cross country meet

For the second straight year, the Mountain Home High School cross country teams had quite the successful day at the Class 5A State Meet at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs.

The Lady Bombers successfully defended their state title from a year ago, as they got past Hot Springs Lakeside by two points. Rylee Patterson led Mountain Home with a runner-up finish in a time of 19:00.62. Also for Mountain Home, Jordan Ritenburg was ninth in 20:05.76, Bailey Ritenburg ended up 15th in 20:38.06, and Erin Smith took 18th place in 20:53.56. The individual champion was Olivia Pielemeier of Lake Hamilton with a time of 18:44.61.

Andrew Westphal was able to capture the boys’ individual championship with a mark of 15:41.62, but Mountain Home fell just short winning the team title. The Bombers ended up second, with Lake Hamilton winning the crown by an eight-point margin. Also for the Bombers, Ky Bickford finished third in 16:02.98, Hendrix Hughes was 10th in 16:36.33, and Anderson Hodges ended up 19th in 17:05.22.
