Thursday basketball schedule includes MHHS openers in Branson Battle at the Border

Thursday is a busy day for basketball, as the Mountain Home High School basketball teams begin their three-day run in the Branson Battle at the Border. The opening opponent for the Bombers and Lady Bombers will be Mount Vernon, Missouri.

Both Mountain Home teams are 0-2 on the season. The Bombers and Lady Bombers fell at Paragould on Tuesday, with the boys’ game going to double overtime.

The girls’ game tips off at 4 followed by the boys’ contest. Both will be on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and on the Bomber Sports Network channel on YouTube.

Dora’s girls will play their second game in the Fordland Invitational Tournament. The Lady Falcons will meet Chadwick at 7:30.

The Bev Stone Border Classic will hold its semifinal round at Omaha. In girls’ action, Lead Hill and Kingston will tip off at 4, and the host Lady Eagles face Jasper at 7. On the boys’ bracket, the New School takes on Blue Eye at 5:30, and Marshall plays Green Forest at 8:30.

The Bergman boys will be back in West Fork for the semifinals of the Duel at the Dome. The Panthers will be paired with Waldron at 6:30.

After an 84-point win in the opening round on Monday, Bergman’s girls will compete in the semifinals of the Blue Eye Invitational Tournament. The Lady Panthers will meet Springfield Glendale at 7.

Both of Valley Springs’ teams will return to Quitman for consolation games in the Fast Break Classic. The Lady Tigers face Nemo Vista at 4, and the Valley Springs boys will take on the host Bulldogs at 5:30.

Harrison will send its high school teams across the state line for their openers in the Willard Basketball Classic. Both Goblin teams will play Belton starting with the boys at 5:30.

Elsewhere on the high school varsity level, Mountain Home Christian Academy hosts Bakersfield, Norfork plays Ozark Mountain on the Bruno-Pyatt campus in Eros, Calico Rock travels to Greers Ferry to meet West Side, and Mammoth Spring entertains Melbourne.

In junior varsity basketball, Salem is home against Cave City for three boys’ games.

Mountain Home’s freshman teams will be in front of the home crowd, as they welcome Nettleton to the Twin Lakes Area. The girls’ game tips off at 5, and the boys’ contest will follow.

Also on the junior high level, Viola makes the trip to Brockwell to face Izard County.
