MH Chamber of Commerce seeking nominees for 9 awards

The Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to nominate those who are an inspiration to the community and a credit to their profession. This year, there are nine categories the chamber will vote on during its December meeting.

Community members are invited to nominate candidates in nine categories — Educator of the Year, Jim Gaston Friend of Tourism award, Medical Professional of the Year, Outstanding Business or Industry, Outstanding Organization award, Spirit award, Student of the Year award, Volunteer of the Year award and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

The candidates and winning recipients will be recognized in January at the annual banquet and membership meeting.

Nominations can be made by following this link. The last day to nominate will be Sunday.

Educator of the Year (includes workforce development, etc.)

The Educator of the Year Award recognizes a local individual. This person is dedicated but is also proactive in assuring that the educational needs of their students are met.

Jim Gaston Friend of Tourism Award

The recipient of this award promotes the Twin Lakes Area on every occasion and invests themselves in the area to make it a better place for visitors and all of us. The Friend of Tourism participates in this industry, but their true goal is to share the natural beauty of our area while teaching others to enjoy it and treat it with respect.

Medical Professional of the Year

The Medical Professional of the year honors a unique, respected individual who has given unselfishly of themselves to promote the best possible healthcare to the Twin Lakes area.

Outstanding Business or Industry

The Outstanding Business Award recognizes a company that has shown growth or sustainability with strong employee relations and a record of giving back to the community.

Outstanding Organization Award

The Outstanding Organization Award recognizes a local not-for-profit organization. The recipient is selected for its commitment to putting service above self by serving others in our communities. This outstanding organization provides benefits that are invaluable assets and serve as a model for other organizations.

Spirit Award

The Spirit Award recognizes an individual or entity that acts as an ambassador to the Twin Lakes Area, continuously promoting our community. The recipient of this award captivates individuals, families, businesses, and industry with the thrill of living/working in the Twin Lakes Area.

Student of the Year Award

The Student of the Year Award recognizes a local individual pursuing an education at any level. This person will be chosen for their kindness, leadership, compassion, academic achievements, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.

Volunteer of the Year Award

This award is designed to honor an individual performing outstanding community service, largely without recognition. The recipient may volunteer in public or private sectors with the longevity of service in the selection.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year (up to 40 years old)

The recipient of this award has demonstrated success as measured by sales and profit; increased employment opportunities; developed and utilized innovative or creative business methods; innovativeness of product or service and contributes to community-oriented projects.
