The Mountain Home School District has announced its closure on Thursday due to the recent winter weather. Superintendent Dr. Jake Long says students will need to complete assignments for AMI Day No. 1.

The Norfork, Flippin, Yellville-Summit, Bakersfield, Izard County, Melbourne, Searcy County, Mountain View, Lead Hill, Bergman, Valley Springs, Harrison, Omaha, Jasper and Branson school districts have also announced they will be closed for on-site instruction. Thursday will be an AMI day for all districts.

The weather has also forced the closure of Mountain Home Christian Academy as they move to virtual learning Thursday. The Calico Rock, West Plains and Hollister school districts will also be closed.

Other area schools will be closed for the remainder of the week due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Cotter, Viola, Salem, Dora and Mammoth Spring school districts will have AMI days through Friday.

Arkansas State University-Mountain Home has also announced its closure for Thursday.  The Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce Banquet will proceed as scheduled at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center.
