Carrie Ramsey has announced she is running for Mountain Home School Board, Position 4. Ramsey’s announcement is the first of the election cycle for a position on the Mountain Home School Board.

A seasonal business owner, Ramsey says she spends much of her time in the off-season being active in the community, particularly within the Mountain Home Public School (MHPS) system. She says she has spent considerable time volunteering at several schools in the district and has served multiple terms as a volunteer coordinator.

Ramsey is a substitute teacher and has held a number of roles in the Mountain Home Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The mother of two current MHPS students, one at the junior high and one at Pinkston Middle School, Ramsey is serving as the vice president of the MHPS PTO for the 2021-2022 school year.

Ramsey says her business experience, combined with having children in the MHPS district, her history of volunteering with MHPS and her current position with PTO give her a well-rounded background, which will help her to make the best decisions possible for the district.

Ramsey says she is looking forward to helping make the hard decisions, asking tough questions and striving to continually improve MHPS. She says there’s a bright future ahead for MHPS, and she is looking forward to helping it be even better.

Ramsey was born and raised in Mountain Home and graduated magna cum laude from Mountain Home High School in 1999. She is the daughter of Roy and Marilyn Stone. She was a member of the band, robotics team, Bomb Squad and student council and served as the music librarian. Ramsey attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway on a full scholarship and graduated in 2003 at the top of her class in business management.

In 2002, she married Wes Ramsey, also of Mountain Home. He is also a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas and is a veteran of the United States Army and Arkansas National Guard. In 2010, Carrie Ramsey purchased the Mountain Home franchise of Rhea Lana’s Children’s consignment event, and the following year, the couple moved their young family back to the area.
