The wintry mix has begun for portions of the Twin Lakes Area, and it’s expected to continue throughout the early evening. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Baxter, Marion, Searcy, Boone and Newton counties until 6 Wednesday evening.

While the area has seen a mixture of snow and sleet, the accumulation will not be as high as it was over the weekend. Meteorologist Justin Condrey from the National Weather Service office in North Little Rock says once the precipitation is over, the main threat will be the colder temperatures.

A wind chill advisory will be in effect for North Central Arkansas Thursday morning from 6 to 10. The forecast on Thursday is calling for sunshine with highs in the upper 20s, but Condrey says he wouldn’t be surprised if the Twin Lakes Area doesn’t get out of the teens.

Condrey adds that anyone needing to be out on the roads within the next 24 hours should be mindful of the possibility of black ice.
