A Fulton County man has been charged with failure to comply with the registration requirements as a convicted sex offender, after he was allegely found using intnet access at the Viola Library to view pornography.

According to the probable cause affidavit, earlier this month, the chief deputy for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office found 60-year-old Lester Hendrix of Viola using a tablet and the public facility’s internet access to view the material.

When Hendrix saw the officer, he reportedly turned his tablet face down. When requested to show what he was viewing, the officer reported seeing Hendrix was viewing pornography and using a chat site that had led to a prior arrest for the Fulton County man.

During an interview at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Hendrix allegedly said the electronic device and the email he was using were not registered with law enforcement, in violation of the conditions of his earlier conviction of a sex-related offense.

Online court records indicate Hendrix was convicted in 2013 in Faulkner County of a charge of internet stalking of a child. He was sentenced to 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

The charge followed an investigation of the then 21-year-old Hendrix using the internet to arrange a meeting with who he believed was a 10-year-old female for the purpose of engaging in sexual contact.

Bond in the most recent case was set at $5,000.
