Boil orders have been issued for two area water systems over the weekend, and two others remain in effect.

Calico Rock Waterworks issued a boil order Saturday from Red Lane to the Boswell intersection, including East First Street, from the Boswell intersection up to and including Bonnie Street. The announcement posted on the City of Calico Rock’s Facebook did not specify a reason for the order.

The second boil order was issued Sunday evening for Parthenon Water Association customers along Murray Road in Newton County. According to the Arkansas Department of Health, the order was necessary following a water line break.

A boil order has been in place for the entire Fifty Six Waterworks system in Stone County since last Monday. According to the health department, the order was issued due to a construction-related water line break.

Under the boil orders, all impacted customers are advised their water may be unsafe for human consumption. Water used for drinking or food preparation should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
