The financial goal for the 9/11 Memorial statue planned for the Veterans Plaza 2000 across from the Baxter County Courthouse has been met.

According to Tommy Feliccia of the Mountain Home Fire Department, $15,000 in donations were needed to complete project.

The memorial will include a piece of a beam from the Twin Towers at New York’s World Trade Center helping to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.

In a recent episode of Talk of the Town on KTLO-FM 97.9, Feliccia provided a description of the memorial, saying that everyone impacted has been included.

The idea for the memorial stems from the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 event last year, where ideas of how to incorporate the steel from one of the Twin Towers began.

Feliccia hopes to have the sculpture revealed on Memorial Day, May 30.
