A Gassville man has been arrested in connection with two theft cases and using credit cards stolen in a break-in to make multiple purchases. A total of 13 felony charges have been filed against 37-year-old Daniel Wayne Albrecht.

According to probable cause affidavits in the cases, Albrecht is believed to have broken into a cabin in Elizabeth in early January, where he allegedly took credit cards, and illegally entering storage units in Mountain Home on several occasions recently.

In the break-in at Elizabeth, law enforcement learned two televisions were taken. A few days later, one of the victims discovered his wife’s credit card was being used in Mountain Home and to make online purchases from several websites. In all of the online purchases, the items were shipped to Albrecht’s address in Gassville. The eight purchases totaled $2,889.

On Monday, Mountain Home police were notified of a break-in at a local storage unit complex. The owner was pursuing a vehicle he believed was involved in the theft of items from the units. Law enforcement determined the fleeing vehicle belonged to 47-year-old Michael George Scudder of Mountain Home.

During the investigation, another storage facility owner filed a report and gave police video footage from the business during the thefts showing Scudder and two other male subjects, one of which was identified as Albrecht.

During an interview, Scudder allegedly admitted to his part in the thefts.

A search of local pawn shops revealed Albrecht had sold items taken during the break-ins.

In all, Albrecht is charged with two counts each of theft of property and breaking or entering, one count of residential burglary, and eight counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. He is also charged with being a habitual offender, after previously being convicted of forgery and four counts of failure to appear. His bond is set at $17,500.
