Omaha High School Principal and head basketball coach Rocky Dodson has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of his wife. Dodson is a former long-term substitute teacher at Mountain Home Junior High School and served in the Cotter and Norfork school districts, as well.

Boone County Sheriff Tim Roberson reports on Sunday deputies and investigators responded to an Omaha residence regarding the death of 36- year-old Amanda Dodson. In combination with the investigation and the medical examiners findings, evidence relating to a severe injury, which caused her death, was discovered.

At the time of Sheriff Roberson’s news release, Dodson was being held at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department with a bond pending.

In a letter to Omaha School District parents and guardians, Superintendent Ryan D. Huff says Dodson has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately, pending notification to Dodson.

Huff says in the letter, “The safety of our students and staff is our utmost priority. At no time were our students or staff in danger on campus.”

Counseling services are being made available to any student requesting them.
