Five area counties have determined Primary Election winners

Five area counties have determined the winners of the Primary Election and who will participate in the runoff elections to be held in June.In Fulton County, Kenneth Crow defeated David Curtis for the County Judge position. Crow received 56% of the votes. Curtis received 44%.Jacob Smith won the Sheriff position against John David Cawvey by receiving 80% of votes. Cawvey received 20%.

Matthew Stevens fell to Cris Newberry for the District 1 Justice of the Peace position. Newberry received 79% of votes, Stevens received 21%.

Albert Roork won the District 3 Justice of the Peace position with 70% of votes against Joanna Defoe.

Jimmy Marler defeated Jackie Dean Privett for the District 8 Justice of the Peace position with 55% of votes.

Karen Harris Coffman won the Salem School Board Position 2 seat against Phillip Taylor with 69% of votes.

Dustin Cotter and Derek Winter will compete in the runoff election on June 21 for the Viola School Board Position 2 seat. Dustin Cotter received 33% of votes, Derek Winter received 37% and the third candidate, Brandon T. Love received 30%.

In Izard County, incumbent County Judge Eric Smith and Paul Womack will compete in the runoff race for County Judge. Smith received 45% of votes and Womack received 49.6% of votes, just missing avoiding the runoff election by 12 votes. A third candidate, Thomas Ward, received 5% of votes.

For Izard County Sheriff, Charley Melton defeated two other opponents with 51% of votes. Mark Simino received 44% and Steven Doran received 5%.

Joe Copper defeated Debra Brown for the Circuit Clerk position with 60% of votes.

A runoff will take place for District 2 Justice of the Peace between Bobby Russell and Kelly Hatman. Hatman received 44% of votes, Russell received 32% and incumbent Walter Hagan received 24%.

Camron Hanes won the Melbourne School Board Position 4 seat with 57% of votes against Kamille Roberts. Roberts received 43%.

In Stone County, Jim Nesbitt has won the Republican primary for County Judge with 54% of votes. Opponent Robert Huckleberry received 46%. Nesbitt will face Independent Stacey Avey, the incumbent, in the General Election in November.

Nathan Masterson and Brandon Long will compete in a runoff election in June for the Republican nomination for Stone County Sheriff. Long received 32% of votes, Masterson received 27%. David Burnett and Bradley Joel Breeding were eliminated from the race. Burnett received 24% of votes and Breeding received 17%. The winner of the runoff election will face Independent candidates Dammon McGilton, Johnny Rose and Tony Trammel in the General Election in November.

Kayla Meeker defeated opponent Valerie Stair for the treasurer position with 66% of votes. Stair received 34% of votes.

Jimmy Bullard received 71% of votes and won the District 1 Justice of the Peace position against Caroline Townsend Powell who received 29%.

The District 7 Constable position was won by Bob Cook who received 59% of votes against opponents Thomas Dale Robertson and Frank Ed Foll. Robertson received 41% and Foll did not receive any votes.

In Searcy County, two candidates will compete in the runoff election for county judge in June. Tony Horton received 35% of votes and will face Robert A. Baysinger who received 25%. Incumbent Jim Harness was knocked out of the race with 19% of votes, along with David Roberts who received 21%.

Incumbent Debbie Loggins will serve another term as the Circuit and County Clerk after receiving 75% of votes against Chuck Seaton who received 25%.

The District 5 Justice of the Peace position will stay with incumbent Wayne Witcher who received 72% of votes against Misti Collier who received 28%.

Jason Ragland defeated Ken Nelson III for District 7 Justice of the Peace with 80% of votes. Nelson received 20%.

In Boone County, a runoff election will take place for county judge between incumbent Robert Hathaway and Bobby Woods. Hathaway received 48% of votes, Woods received 31% and a third challenger, Danny L. Hall received 21%.

The Sheriff position was taken by Roy Martin who received 73% of votes. Opponent Mark E. Foresee received 27% of votes.

The Treasurer position will stay with incumbent Sandy Carter who received 59% of votes against David Thompson who received 41%.

A runoff election will be held for the Constable North position between Incumbent Daniel J. Mehn who received 46%, or 744 votes, and Fred Starnes who received 45%, or 734 votes. A third opponent, Timothy A. Kapsos received 9% of votes.
