Marion County voters elect new judge, sheriff

After being delayed because of technical difficulties, Marion County election officials were able to get votes counted Wednesday morning for the Primary election. Those votes mean there will be a new judge.

The complete but unofficial returns show challenger Jason Stumph will become the new Marion County Judge January 1 as he defeated incumbent John Massey in the Republican Primary. Stumph got 60% of the vote to Massey’s 40%.

In the race for sheriff, Gregg Alexander defeated Dustin Earl Beals to replace Clinton Evans who chose not to run. Alexander garnered 69% of the vote while Beals had 31%.

In the collector’s race, Carla Purdome defeated Angela Goodman. Purdome had 58% of the vote to Goodman’s 42%.

Susann Crespino won the election for Marion County Treasurer. Crespino got 60% of the vote while challenger Anthony Todaro had 40%.

In the Justice of the Peace District 5 race, Dr. John Reed Raymond Mayo 65% to 35%.
