Jennifer Baker has announced she will be running for re-election for the Ward 2 Position 1 seat on the Mountain Home City Council.

She previously stated she would not seek re-election, but has since changed her mind.

Baker says, “For the last several months, I have stated I would not run for re-election. What I did not anticipate is the sadness I would feel at not having the opportunity to serve as a council member. I have been encouraged by several community members to go ahead and file for re-election. There are so many exciting things going on in the City right now: the Community/Aquatic Center, the growth of the downtown district, the work at getting a second water intake on Lake Norfork, the Park improvements, the new fire station, just to name a few. With my years of experience and institutional knowledge, I want to continue to be involved in the growth of Mountain Home. Therefore, if the public will support me, I will be honored to serve another term.”

Baker has served 13 terms on the city council and currently serves on the A&P commission, the personnel committee, the street committee and is Chairman of the water/sewer committee.

Baker is involved in many community activities. She volunteers at Baxter Regional Medical Center, is an ambassador for the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, is the past president of the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society, past president of the Mountain Home Kiwanis club, a member of the Master Gardeners, board member at the Twin Lakes Playhouse, community relations member for Operation Christmas Child and a volunteer coordinator and board member at Christ Community Church.
