Mountain Home cross country teams do well in first of two home meets

The first of two cross country meets hosted by Mountain Home this season was held Thursday afternoon at Arkansas State University Mountain Home. While most of Mountain Home’s varsity runners did not compete, it was still a good showing for the host teams.

In the high school boys’ race, Rogers dominated, with the top three finishers and placing seven runners in the top 12 spots. The Mounties had 23 points while the Bombers were second with 56. Harrison was third, Melbourne fourth, Timbo fifth, Bakersfield sixth, Valley Springs seventh and Viola eighth.

Individually for Mountain Home, Brayden Yates finished fifth, Tucker Davidson was seventh, Zach Daugherty finished 11th, Austin Callies was 16th and Eli Lane finished 17th.

Melbourne was led by Shawn Wortham who was fourth.

In the high school girls’ race, Harrison won the team total. Salem was second, Mountain Home third and Timbo fourth.

For the Lady Bombers, Monica Chaifn finished 10th, Merritt McConnell was 11th, Rachel Chamberlain was 17th, Charis Green finished 26th and Amelia Mason was 28th.

Laiklyn Stephens of Harrison won the race.

Salem was led by Marleigh Sellars who finished third and Macey Cooper was fifth.

Melbourne had two runners in the top ten, Allie Koehn was eighth and Sophie Love finished ninth.

Rogers dominated the junior boys’ race, taking the top five spots for a perfect team score of 15. In all, the Junior Mounties had seven runners in the top ten. Mountain Home was second in the team standings, Harrison was third, Timbo fifth, Calico Rock sixth, Melbourne seventh and Viola eighth.

Individually for Mountain Home, Levi Payne finished 11th, Caiden Kaspar was 13th, Wave Simmons finished 14th, Elie Jones was 19th and Oakley Recktenwald finished 27th.

Harrison was led by Hunter Frickle’s sixth place finish.

Timbo’s Brayden Watts finished eighth.

In the junior girls’ race, Mountain Home won the team standings, Harrison was second, Melbourne finished third, Calico Rock was fourth and Timbo fifth.

The Junior Lady Bombers were led by Lucy Koehn in third place, Cisily Goettler finished fifth, Callie Kohler was 12th, Chloe Wilson finished 15th and Shayn Wickersham was 16th.

Winning the race was Viola’s Missy Wilson.

Harrison was led by Kody Harris in second place and Mile Baethke was sixth.

Calico Rock’s Kaylee Galloway finished seventh.
