Keep Baxter County Beautiful fall event set for Saturday

The community is encouraged to participate in the fall Keep Baxter County Beautiful Event Saturday morning at 8. Registration and proclamation from Baxter County Judge, Mickey Pendergrass will start at the Baxter County Courthouse at 1 East 7th Street in Mountain Home.

Event organizers Cheryl Green and Cristi Koffler with Baxter County Juvenile Services spoke with KTLO-FM Thursday about the upcoming event.

Organizers asked municipality leaders if they would like to participate and to identify an area in their city that needed attention.

After the proclamation by Judge Pendergrass, groups will disperse to the work sites and work until 1. They will then meet at Cotter Park at the pavilion where local sponsors will provide lunch for volunteers.

Civic and service organizations, church and youth groups, school groups and clubs, scouts, individuals, families, neighborhoods, and businesses can organize cleanup teams and pitch in. People of all ages will be participating this weekend and organizers ask to keep an eye out on the roads.

Volunteers are ask to dress appropriately in long pants, shirts, and closed toe shoes.

According to organizers, “litter can leave a negative impact on our community for years to come. By participating in this year’s Great American Cleanup in Arkansas, local residents can help maintain Baxter County as a vibrant community.”
