Evan VanDolah tackles a Texas player for Arkansas State in 2007.

The MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor is including a few multi-sport athletes in its Class of 2022. Mountain Home 2005 graduate Evan VanDolah will be inducted this weekend for his accomplishments in football and track and field.

Many Bomber fans will remember VanDolah as one of Mountain Home’s former quarterbacks. He ended up being named Mr. Bomber his senior season, but one of his best memories from that year was snapping a long winless streak to Harrison.

After graduating from Mountain Home, VanDolah continued his football career as a safety at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. After redshirting in 2005, he played nine games next year and all 12 in 2007. In 2008, VanDolah started every game and recorded 52 tackles, one interception and four pass breakups. That was A-State’s first season as the Red Wolves, and it began with a big win over then Big 12 member Texas A&M in College Station.

VanDolah was also able to shine in track and field. He was a two-time All-Conference and All-State selection in both of his last two years in high school, and he currently holds a number of school records, including a time of 14.14 in the 110-meter hurdles. One thing that sticks out in VanDolah’s memory is winning the Arkansas State Decathlon at the end of his junior year.

While at A-State, VanDolah majored in journalism and public relations and received his bachelor’s degree in 2009. He currently resides in northwest Arkansas with his wife and daughter and works in talent acquisition for Garver, a civil engineering firm with a location in Fayetteville.

VanDolah gives credit to several people in the Mountain Home School District for helping him prepare for the steps he’s been able to take in his life.
