A woman accused of bashing her husband in the mouth with a piece of wood, cutting a police officer with a saw blade and repeatedly hitting another officer with her fists appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

Forty-year-old Brandy Shepherd-Willis entered a not guilty plea to the charges against her

She asked the court to drop a no contact order ordering her to stay away from the victim but Circuit Judge John Putman said no.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Lakeview police were called to a residence along State Highway 178 West on January 13 to respond to a domestic disturbance call.

When the officer arrived, he found the victim bleeding heavily from the mouth.

The man said Shepherd-Willis, identified as his wife, had hit him in the face with a piece of wood, cutting his lip and knocking out several teeth.

He told the officer the woman had also pulled hair out of his head during the fight.

An officer from the Bull Shoals Police Department arrived to assist and the officers began the process of taking Shepherd-Willis into custody.

She made it clear from the start she was not in the mood to be arrested. She began kicking one of the officers attempting to take her into custody.

She then ran into the living room and grabbed the victim. A stun gun was used on her but was ineffective.

It was at this point that Shepherd-Willis grabbed a Sawzall blade and cut one of the officers on the arm.

The blade was knocked from her hand and the officers began to establish control over the woman.

After she was cuffed, she was taken to Baxter Health for treatment of injuries sustained during the confrontation.

After being released, she was taken to the Baxter County Detention Center. She is charged with first-degree domestic battery, two counts of second-degree battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

Her husband was taken to the hospital by a friend.

Shepherd-Willis’ bond is set at $50,000. During her a recent appearance before the court, a request was made to lower the bond, but Prosecutor David Ethredge said the state strongly objected to changing the bond given the fact the woman was facing serious charges, including fighting with police officers.
