West Plains man crashes into local business; one injured


An elderly man crashed into a Dollar Tree in West Plains Thursday afternoon.

According to the West Plains Police Department, First Responders dispatched to the Dollar Tree located on Mitchell Road due to a report of a vehicle crashing into the structure with a possible subject trapped.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a 78-year-old male crashed his vehicle into the entrance of the building. The driver was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt at the time. One injury was reported inside of the building. Officers learned prior to their arrival a two-year-old child was transported from the scene and air-lifted to a medical facility for a serious head injury.

City officials determined there was no structural damage preventing the business from reopening.

The names of the victim and the driver have not been released.
