Additional charges filed against mail theft suspects in Marion County

Additional charges have been filed against two Marion County residents who were arrested last month for mail thefts from residential mailboxes in the county.

Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander says 28-year-old Tyler Steven Dudley of Flippin and 31-year-old Whitney Nicole Townsend of Yellville have picked up the additional charges after law enforcement executed a search warrant where they located and recovered property taken from residences in Yellville and Rea Valley.

The new charges against Dudley and Townsend include 17 counts of breaking or entering; two counts of residential burglary; simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, all felonies; along with 19 counts of theft of property; possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

The duo was originally arrested Feb. 8 in connection with several area mail thefts that occurred in late Jan. and early Feb. of this year after citizens reported seeing the suspects stealing mail from mailboxes in a Yellville neighborhood.

The original charges against the two include 14 counts of breaking or entering and three counts of theft of property, both felonies, along with 14 misdemeanor counts of theft of property.

Dudley and Townsend are being held in the Marion County Detention Facility on $25,000 bonds each.
