Sales tax revenue holds steady trend in March

The sales tax revenue for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home continue on a steady, positive, trend for March. According to Alma Clark, the City of Mountain Home’s Director of Finance and Treasury, the city collected a total of $523,297 in city sales tax revenue for March which is an increase of 9.6% from this time last year. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $104,014 or 6.5%.

Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $450,600; this time last year Baxter County received $404,723.

Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in March, which reflect area spending from the month of January.

Mountain Home received $243,775 in county sales tax, when compared to last year’s total of $218,937, it is an 11.3% increase. The year-to-date total equals $37,143.

Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:

– Gassville, which received $41,262;

– Cotter, which received $16,839;

– Lakeview, which received $14,729;

– Salesville, which received $8,989;

– Norfork, which received $8,837;

– Briarcliff, which received $4,485; and

– Big Flat, which received $1,672.

Baxter County received $197,793 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.

Mountain Home received $196,236 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $178,966 which is a monthly increase of 9.65%. The year-to-date increase is $38,992 or 6.5%.

Mountain Home has collected $261,648 for March from the park improvement sales tax, which is $41,258 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,390 (the actual payment amount.)

Park operation sales tax for January equals $130,824.
