Desert Storm veterans of the 224th Maintenance Company of the Arkansas Army National Guard and the Searcy County Veterans Association will sponsor a Desert Storm reunion this Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Marshall. The event will be from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. with a meal provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
224th retired First Sergeant James Fountain says the invitation is open to all former 224th members whether they served in Operation Desert Storm or not, as well as all Gulf War veterans.
The 224th, which is headquartered in Mountain Home with a detachment in Marshall, was “called up” in Nov. 1990 and deployed to northern Saudi Arabia near the border with Iraq from Jan. to May 1991.
The Searcy County Veterans Memorial Hall is located at 108 Noah Horton Memorial Drive in Marshall.
