
The Mountain Home School Board of Education met in regular session Thursday night.
Prior to the meeting, retirees were honored for the years of service and dedication put in to Mountain Home Public Schools.
During the meeting, Superintendent Jake Long recognized Steve Hargett as the Teacher of the Year and Richard Padgett award winner. Long states, “Mr. Steve Hargett is an outstanding educator and an even better human being and employee. It was an honor to get to present this award and witness the sincerity and gratitude expressed by him and his family.”
Angie Wilhite was recognized as this year’s Classified staff member. Long states, “Mrs. Angie has been an incredible keeper of the gate at Hackler since it opened — not to mention her years of work at NWH and Guy Berry. She is a true professional, and one of the most dependable individuals I know. It was a pleasure to present this award to her.”
School board member Neal Pendergrass was also recognized during the meeting. Long states, “Neal has been on the board for 24 years. He has consistently been wise counsel and a student-centered voice. MHPS is a better school system because of his dedication.”
